Job Summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Radiology is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist or Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing complex nuclear medicine imaging and laboratory procedures, including positron emission tomography (PET).

Key Responsibilities

* Perform complex PET examinations, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of PET tracers and their relation to molecular physiological functions.
* Provide instruction to new and current staff technologists, students, and medical staff.
* Evaluate equipment performance, recognize image artifacts, and initiate corrective action when needed.
* Develop PET examinations, create written protocols, and scanning parameters.
* Explain and demonstrate methodologies for procedures, equipment, and devices to residents, physicians, students, and staff new hires.
* Develop, implement, and evaluate technology required for new procedures.
* Troubleshoot computer or equipment malfunctions.
* Interact professionally with patients and families, providing liaison between medical staff and patients, patients' families, and hospital staff.

Requirements

* A Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
* Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board in nuclear medicine is required.
* Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Iowa Public Health Department as documented by an Iowa Permit to Practice (IPP) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

* PET research experience.
* Strong organizational skills.
