Job Summary

The University of Iowa Department of Radiology is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing complex nuclear medicine imaging and laboratory procedures, utilizing your expertise to obtain critical information for physician diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new imaging procedures and technologies, providing instruction to medical staff, students, and other staff members.
  • Perform duties of a Staff Nuclear Medicine Technologist as required and assigned.
  • Conduct clinical investigational procedures and troubleshoot technical problems and equipment breakdowns.
  • Develop quality assurance testing parameters for specialized instrumentation.
  • Develop policies and procedures for diagnostic studies and imaging areas.
  • Conduct continuing education and in-service programs for staff and students.
  • Supervise staff and students in specialized imaging areas and new procedures.
  • Coordinate planning and scheduling of diagnostic procedures and imaging areas.
  • Requisition and inventory supplies for imaging areas and procedures.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology approved by the Council of Education of the American Medical Association or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
  • Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Iowa Public Health Department as documented by an Iowa Permit to Practice (IPP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires reasonable (1-3 years) progressively responsible experience in nuclear medicine procedures and related computer applications.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Some (6 months - 1 year) nuclear medicine developmental and/or clinical investigative experience.
  • Some (6 months - 1 year) nuclear medicine technology supervisory or teaching experience.
