The US Metadata Specialist will play a pivotal role in overseeing Bloomsbury's comprehensive metadata operations. This position is essential for ensuring the precise and timely transmission of title metadata to our distribution networks and retail partners, while aligning with the company's strategic policies and operational practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the bibliographic data and structures of titles to guarantee a seamless metadata workflow.
- Ensure the integrity of metadata and promote best practices within the metadata and editorial teams.
- Manage the metadata feeds to Bloomsbury's distribution systems and collaborate with the IT department on ONIX feed strategy enhancements.
- Coordinate with Bloomsbury's IT, Editorial, and Marketing teams, as well as the distributor's personnel, to refine metadata management processes and optimize workflows.
- Lead the department's critical seasonal timelines and schedules.
- Enhance title discoverability by optimizing metadata for improved online presentation and overall quality on retail platforms and Edelweiss.
- Supervise the metadata verification process within Bloomsbury and the distributor's systems.
- Manage cover images and key title launches for US retailers.
- Assist editorial and marketing teams in resolving metadata-related inquiries.
- Generate ad-hoc reports as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
- A minimum of five years in the publishing industry, with at least two years focused on metadata management.
- Familiarity with databases and data flow between systems is essential.
- Proficient in ONIX, Edelweiss, Amazon Vendor Central, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Biblio is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills are crucial.
- Must demonstrate an organized and methodical approach to handling extensive data.

Location Requirements
Candidates should be based in the NY tri-state area and be available for in-person work two days a week.
