Licensed Vocational Nurse Supervisor

Sign-on Bonus: $1,000 for New Full-time Hires
A licensed vocational nurse operating under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services.
The Charge Nurse is tasked with overseeing the daily operational responsibilities of a designated nursing unit, which includes managing schedules, nursing assignments, delegating resident care, and supervising nursing personnel.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing institution or an approved RN or LVN program
- Current nursing license, in good standing with the State licensing authority
- Preferred experience in a long-term care environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
- Capability to deliver patient care in line with relevant standards, policies, and procedures
- Critical thinking skills to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate clinical data and observations for developing a nursing care plan
- Thorough understanding of applicable nursing principles, practices, and standards of care
- Willingness to collaborate with and supervise both professional and nonprofessional staff
- Proficiency in the English language, including the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend with minimal difficulty
- Valid CPR certification
General Duties and Responsibilities:
GENERAL:
- Assume responsibility for the oversight of an assigned nursing unit, including the assignment and coordination of nursing care.
- Provide supervision and support for nursing staff based on their training level and the residents' needs.
- Ensure compliance with facility-approved procedures and policies, as well as state and federal regulations.
CLINICAL:
- Maintain overall shift operations in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
- Coordinate resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Conduct daily rounds to assess residents' physical and emotional status and implement necessary nursing interventions.
- Regularly observe and guide direct patient care staff to ensure appropriate techniques and adherence to facility policies.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings and contribute to the individualized, person-centered care plans for each resident.
- Ensure compliance with safety and infection control practices.
- Respond to emergency situations as they arise.
- Guarantee that all required documentation is complete and complies with regulations and standards.
- Assist with special projects or other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
COMMUNICATION:
- Promptly communicate with patients and families regarding treatment and care.
- Engage with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors and staff.
SUPERVISION:
- Meet regularly with unit personnel to identify and address problem areas and improve services.
- Review and evaluate assigned personnel, providing written evaluations to the Director of Nursing or designee.
- Coordinate nursing services with other departments and nursing units.
- Ensure all personnel adhere to established infection control practices and aseptic techniques when necessary.
- Follow required coaching and progressive disciplinary procedures.
CONSUMER SERVICE:
- Present a professional image to consumers through attire, behavior, and communication.
- Serve as a role model for staff.
- Treat residents and family members with dignity and respect.
- Address resident and family concerns and assist in resolving grievances, documenting them per facility policy.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Actively participate in the facility's Quality Assurance (QA) program as needed, assisting in correcting findings and deficiencies.
- Ensure the protection of health information as mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Participate in the facility's Infection Control Program for monitoring communicable diseases among residents and staff.
- Report hazardous conditions or equipment issues as necessary.
- Orient new staff members upon request.
- Attend various facility meetings as required.
- Engage in in-services and educational classes to maintain nursing skills and current knowledge of standards of care.
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned.
