Job Title: Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic

Channel Islands Logistics is seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties, including inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition and identify worn and damaged parts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance schedules to keep equipment available for use.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, subassemblies, components, parts, or systems.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technical and regulatory publications to enhance job knowledge.
  • Enhance the maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of Semi-trucks, Refer Trailers, and Chassis, and perform scheduled maintenance repairs.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Must provide own hand tools to complete all assigned tasks.
  • Utilize laptop computers to diagnose problems and adjust engine functions.
  • Perform any other tasks and duties as assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalent Certificate.
  • 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • Class C License.
  • Knowledge of computerized diagnostic equipment.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds.
  • Working Conditions:
  • Works in areas requiring exposure to varying temperatures, heat or cold, and/or wet, damp, or drafty conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
