Omni Fiber LLC is seeking a skilled Heavy Construction Technician to join our team. This role will be based in northern and central Ohio, with the primary construction office located in Port Clinton.

Job Description

This position involves performing tasks that require physical labor at heavy construction projects. The successful candidate must be able to operate various types of hand and power tools, as well as small equipment. Key responsibilities include cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support excavations, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris, and removing waste materials.

The Heavy Construction Technician will also be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport materials and equipment to and from construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate jackhammers, drills, and other power tools.
  • Position, join, align, and seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Build and position forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications.
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations.
  • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
  • Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities.
  • Drive trucks carrying materials and equipment from warehouses to sites.

Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and effectively operate various types of construction equipment and tools.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to driving and construction work.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor tasks in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Able to perform night maintenance and emergency callouts.
  • Overtime may be required, and flexibility is necessary to accommodate changing project needs.

  • Estimated salary: $25.50 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.
