We are seeking a Pipeline Integrity Technician Trainee to join our team, progressing through to Level III. The experience level and remuneration will be discussed during the interview process.


Position Overview:

In the role of Pipeline Inspection Reliability Technician, you will be tasked with the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of In Line Inspection (ILI) tools. This position involves monitoring the reliability of ILI tool systems and conducting root cause analyses of failures. You will be responsible for creating, implementing, and tracking corrective and preventive measures to enhance the quality of ILI tools and their supporting systems.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication, organizational, and analytical abilities across both mechanical and electronic disciplines, enabling them to continually elevate success rates.

This role may require ad-hoc travel across various regions, including the UK, Europe, and potentially North America.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with hand and power tools, particularly small tools utilized in electronic work, such as soldering irons, wire strippers, and crimping tools.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to reconstruct assemblies.
  • Experience in maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair tasks.
  • Conduct inspections on equipment located in hazardous environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively based on project needs.
  • Willingness to progress through Tool Operator Levels as outlined in ASNT Personnel Qualifications and Certifications for In-Line Inspection Technologies.
  • Exhibit flexibility, reliability, and a conscientious work ethic.
  • Ability to manage stress and prioritize multiple tasks while adhering to tight deadlines.
  • Possess good organizational skills and comfort with fieldwork and associated travel.
  • Capable of driving long distances independently.

Requirements:

Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: 2-year College and/or Technical Electronic Degree.


Previous Electronics Experience:

  • Experience in mobile phone or laptop repairs.
  • Familiarity with small hand tools (crimpers, wire strippers) and soldering electronic subassemblies.
  • Relevant training certifications or demonstrable competencies supporting knowledge and experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Authorization to work in the United Kingdom for any employer.
  • Successful completion of a Drug and Alcohol Test (a condition of employment).
  • Willingness to undergo a background check (a conviction record may not disqualify applicants).
  • Proof of a valid UK driving license.
  • Passing a fitness to work medical examination.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings and late evenings.
  • Capability to routinely lift and carry up to 25kg.
  • Ability to wear a respirator (requires being clean-shaven as necessary).
  • Willingness to work under extreme weather conditions.
  • Availability for travel up to 25% of the time within the UK, Europe, and potentially longer international trips.
