About the Role:

Health by Design is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our out-patient, primary care clinic in Westover Hills, San Antonio. The successful candidate will provide exceptional patient care under the supervision of a Charge RN, working with a unique adult patient population including retired San Antonio Police, Fire Fighters, and other First Responders.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, triage, plan, provide, and evaluate patient care for designated shifts or clinics, ensuring execution of physician orders and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Delegate tasks to licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) or medical assistants (MAs), as needed and depending on locations.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, dressing changes, and administering medications.
  • Perform phlebotomy and other lab tests, monitor blood pressure, blood sugar, EKGs, and other vital measurements as ordered by physicians.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling, follow-up for test results, medication refills, referrals, and insurance issues.
  • Provide patient health and wellness education through informal sessions and Health by Design's Health and Nutritional Coaching Programs.
  • Administer allergy injections and respond to medical emergencies presenting at the clinic.
  • Train users on job-specific functions within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Assist with future EMR conversions and implementations, and perform other EMR-related tasks as necessary.
  • Document patient care and code visits appropriately in the patient EMRs.
  • Support coding and claims processing for patient encounters under the guidance of the Charge Nurse.
  • Maintain a functional clinic environment, performing administrative responsibilities such as answering phone calls and voicemails, scheduling appointments, scanning, and faxing patient documents.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred; Associate Degree or Hospital Diploma with equivalent experience accepted.
  • Registered Nurse License in the state where services are provided.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Ability to assess problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in basic nursing skills, including responding to emergencies.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Computer skills, including working with Electronic Medical Records.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in phlebotomy, lab collections, EKGs, wound care, nebulizer treatments, and allergy injections.
  • Knowledge of clinic medical equipment operation and maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on qualifications and location.
