Position Overview


A Culinary Specialist will expertly and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a diverse range of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods, including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepares and cooks made-to-order dishes that may require brief preparation time.

- May prepare food and serve customers in an a la carte setting and may operate a grill station.


- Prepares food in compliance with current applicable federal, state, and company standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is delivered.


- Reads food orders or receives verbal instructions on food required by guests and prepares and cooks food according to these instructions.


- Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.


- Follows standard recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items for consumption in dining establishments.


- Prepares foods under direct supervision or instruction by utilizing various kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use.

Training and Compliance

- Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.

- Adheres to all Ocean Casino Resort HACCP policies and procedures.

- May perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.Essential Functions

- Ability to read and convert recipes according to production requirements.

- Continuous standing and walking for extended periods.

- Periodically pushing and pulling heavy carts and lifting products in appropriate storage areas.

- Capability to work in contrasting hot and cold environments.

- Lift food items that may weigh up to 100 lbs.

- Repetitive heavy lifting.Qualifications

- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Either a culinary apprenticeship or an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts.

- Experience in a high-volume kitchen is beneficial.

- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
