Job Title: LTS 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher

South Burlington School District is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated LTS 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment that addresses the academic and social-emotional needs of all students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans that are aligned with state and national standards, and that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students and promote critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly to ensure that all students meet their learning goals.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in social studies education and incorporate new ideas and technologies into your teaching practice.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies or a related field.
  • Valid Vermont Teaching License (K-12 or 5-9), with middle school endorsement for social studies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
