Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee assessments, feasibility studies, and remedial designs for complex sediment remediation projects across various environments, including terrestrial, riverine, lacustrine, and marine settings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks such as CERCLA and USACE while managing project timelines and deliverables.
  • Lead environmental sampling programs, supervise subcontractors, and critically analyze laboratory data to inform feasibility studies and remedial designs.
  • Develop and refine conceptual site models to guide remediation strategies.
  • Conduct feasibility and treatability studies to assess and recommend remedial options.
  • Implement innovative solutions for the remediation of contaminated sediment sites.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and regulatory bodies regarding project management, technical challenges, and cleanup strategies.
  • Prepare sediment remedial design plans, specifications, and construction contract documents.
  • Manage the execution of remedial actions, ensuring quality assurance and long-term monitoring programs are in place.
  • Facilitate staff training and leadership development in sediment remediation practices.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team focused on sediment investigation and remediation, collaborating with regional experts.
  • Drive marketing and business development initiatives to expand our project portfolio and client base.
  • Engage in client outreach and partnership development to enhance service delivery.
  • Identify and cultivate local teaming partners and contractors, as well as recruit talent to strengthen the team.
  • Uphold Stantec's health, safety, and security protocols throughout all project phases.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in Office 365 and other relevant software tools.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on sediment remediation.
  • Physical capability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and/or drug screening may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification in relevant states, or the ability to obtain licensure within one year.
  • Master's degree in environmental or civil engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification, along with current 8-hour refresher training.
  • Experience with drafting and geospatial design tools (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation).
  • Fieldwork experience, including reconnaissance, measurements, sample collection, and construction oversight.

This position involves a typical office environment with extended periods of computer use, as well as fieldwork that may expose you to various weather conditions.
