About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Sediment Remediation Engineer, Geologist or Scientist to lead high-profile contaminated sediment projects in the Pacific Northwest and support similar projects throughout North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assessments, feasibility studies, remedial designs, and remedial implementation for cleanup of complex sediment sites within terrestrial, river, lake, or marine environments.
  • Conduct work under CERCLA, USACE and state regulatory programs.
  • Plan and direct environmental sampling programs, including supervision of subcontractors, and critically evaluate laboratory data for feasibility study and remedial design purposes.
  • Develop conceptual site models.
  • Conduct feasibility and treatability studies to evaluate remedial options.
  • Implement solutions and offer innovations to remediate contaminated sediment sites.
  • Engage in regular client and regulatory communication relating to project management, technical issues, and cleanup strategies.
  • Develop sediment remedial design plans, specifications, and construction contract documents.
  • Implement remedial actions, construction oversight/management and quality assurance, and long-term monitoring programs.
  • Staff training and leadership development in sediment remediation.
  • Lead a Pacific Northwest sediment investigation/remediation team with support from other regional experts.
  • Manage multi-discipline teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Lead/participate in marketing and business development efforts to expand current project and client base.
  • Client outreach and development.
  • Identify and develop local teaming partners/contractors and recruit staff to build a team as needed.
  • Enforce Stantec's health, safety and security requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or related field.
  • Computer proficient in Office 365.
  • 15 years of experience as an environmental consultant, industry representative, or regulator versed in sediment remediation requirements.
  • Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have a good driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Prior to employment, this position may require the successful passing of a pre-employment physical and/or drug screen.
Preferred Requirements
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) in Oregon and/or Washington or the ability to obtain license within one year of accepting offer.
  • Master's degree in environmental/civil, geology, environmental science, or related degree.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification, and current 8-hour refresher.
  • Drafting and/or geospatial design (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, SMS).
  • Fieldwork experience, such as reconnaissance, measurements, sample collection, construction inspection, and instrument handling and deployment.
Work Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

  • $128,200 - $192,300 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI and MD
  • $137,500 - $206,300 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
