West County Transportation Agency is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious individual to fill the position of School Bus Driver.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled driver to transport school children safely and efficiently over designated routes. As a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of our students at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive a school bus over designated routes, following established time schedules and adhering to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Escort children across streets when necessary, stopping traffic as required to ensure student safety.
  • Transport students and teachers on special trips, choosing the best route and making departure and arrival times as scheduled.
  • Inspect the bus prior to operation to ensure it is in good working condition and safe for passengers.
  • Maintain good order among the school children on buses and while the bus is parked at bus stops, contacting parents and administrators as needed to address any discipline issues.
  • Follow all Agency policies regarding student control and contact with parents and citizens.
  • Rendevous first aid and/or emergency assistance as needed.
  • Maintain daily records on assigned route and bus operation.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
  • Medical Certificates.
  • California Special Driver Certificate valid to operate a School Bus.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Capacity to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
