Job Summary:

Universal Engineering Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Senior CMT Engineering Field Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Construction Services Department, you will be responsible for performing daily inspections of construction projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your expertise in construction materials testing and inspection will be crucial in delivering high-quality results and contributing to the success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel to various job sites to conduct field inspections and testing of construction materials
  • Perform routine sampling and testing of soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt
  • Responsible for field compaction testing, sampling, and observation of soils, stone, and asphalt
  • Conduct concrete, grout, and masonry quality control tests through sampling and visual observation
  • Sample asphalt cores to verify thickness
  • Read maps, blueprints, and follow directions to interpret engineering and construction plans
  • Communicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers
  • Complete and prepare accurate and detailed field-testing reports
  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies

Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
  • Experience with ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards
  • Nuclear Density Gauge Certification
  • Two or more of the following active certifications: American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Code Council (ICC), National Institute Certification for Engineering Technologies (NICET), or Department of Transportation (DOT) Certifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to read, write, and use technology

Working Conditions:
  • Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday with some weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments
  • Field work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing, sitting, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to use senses to see, smell, hear, and touch
  • May be required to drive hundreds of miles per day within the Mid-Atlantic region
