Position Summary

Loudoun County Public Library is in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources Support Specialist to become a vital part of our Human Resources team. The successful applicant will assist in various HR and administrative functions, contributing to the efficient operation of the department. The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities. The candidate should also demonstrate proficiency in managing multiple tasks while maintaining organization to meet deadlines for competing priorities.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Act as a Human Resources liaison for the department.
  • Investigate and resolve inquiries and issues, providing guidance to staff on County policies.
  • Support the coordination of the new hire process, including conducting background checks such as criminal, credit, and DMV checks.
  • Draft offer letters and submit employee records to HR and Payroll.
  • Maintain employee personnel records and prepare necessary documentation for various employee actions, including medical leave requests and bonuses.
  • Serve as a backup for payroll transactions within the department, ensuring knowledge of county policies regarding overtime, on-call duties, holidays, and other payroll-related matters.
  • Assist in training colleagues and managers, completing assigned projects, and providing backup support to team members as needed.
  • Contribute to recruitment efforts within the NeoGov system and assist senior leadership with special projects as required.

Salary will be determined based on experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma and four (4) years of relevant clerical or administrative experience, particularly with automated systems and Microsoft Office applications, preferably in a governmental context.

Job Requirements and Special Conditions

A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued eligibility). Background checks including DMV, criminal, and credit checks are mandatory. This position is designated as a Position of Trust.
