Position Summary

Oversee Six Sigma enhancement initiatives and play a pivotal role in shaping and guiding the Hunter Douglas Six Sigma framework. Inspire, motivate, and influence project teams while possessing the leadership acumen to actualize the Hunter Douglas Six Sigma vision. Comfort with managing and facilitating change is essential. Black Belts must be proficient and effective communicators to excel in their roles as Six Sigma leaders, mentors, coaches, and trainers. Responsible for educating, guiding, and supporting project work for belts at various levels. Must excel at identifying issues, applying statistical methodologies, and leading individuals through the challenges of process enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

The individual in this role may be required to perform any or all of the following essential functions. (These examples do not encompass all functions that the individual may be expected to execute.)

  • Lead impactful Six Sigma/Quality Enhancement projects.
  • Mentor Green Belts and coach business leaders.
  • Utilize Six Sigma tools and techniques to address customer challenges, design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct data analysis and translate findings into actionable business decisions using data modeling and statistical analysis tools and techniques.
  • Identify and analyze process improvement opportunities, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Train, coach, and mentor all employees, including Green Belts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects meet intended outcomes, proactively identifying and mitigating risks while validating benefits.
  • Provide expertise and share best practices regarding Process Improvement tools, methodologies, and team leadership.
  • Deliver improvement projects that yield positive results.
  • Manage a portfolio of improvement initiatives, including auditing implemented projects to ensure sustained process enhancements and realized benefits.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in DFSS training/tools and system knowledge.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High energy level and a collaborative team player.
  • Expert ability to influence and drive change at all organizational levels.
  • Solid knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, including statistics, SPC, hypothesis testing, regression, and root cause analysis.
  • Robust background in process, manufacturing, or engineering with an understanding of workflow and throughput in operations.
  • Experience in training belts, with strong facilitation skills.
  • Experience in mentoring/coaching belts conducting improvement projects.
  • Acceptable Training and Experience includes a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, or Business (preferably in a quantitative field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., 5+ years in a quantitative role – Engineering, Process Re-engineering, Quality Assurance). A minimum of 5 years of Six Sigma experience leading various projects of significant value, duration, and complexity in a design and manufacturing environment. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is required.
