Position Summary

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role within our finance department, responsible for preparing, researching, analyzing, and delivering precise and timely financial data for the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee month-end closing activities and prepare necessary journal entries.
  • Facilitate the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, comparing actual results to budgeted expectations.
  • Examine financial statement transactions for accuracy and completeness, ensuring proper and timely recognition of revenues and expenses.
  • Conduct timely reconciliations of assigned General Ledger accounts.
  • Prepare grant reimbursement requests for various government levels in compliance with 2 CFR Part 200.
  • Assist in budget development for grant applications.
  • Review grant contracts and modifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Deliver timely and precise accounting and reporting for designated responsibilities, including mortgage servicing, payroll and benefits, treasury functions, unclaimed property, and records retention.
  • Maintain robust internal controls over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Evaluate current processes, suggesting and implementing enhancements.
  • Generate ad hoc analyses and miscellaneous financial reports as required.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Leadership Team to prepare budgets and related financial forecasts.
  • Support the Finance team in preparing work papers and supporting documents for annual audits and Form 990.
  • Manage fixed assets effectively.
  • Assist in overseeing the accounts payable process.
  • Conduct job costing and AIP.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, general ledger, and accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Exhibit a high level of confidentiality, integrity, and self-awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Capable of engaging positively with individuals at all organizational levels, as well as with vendors and customers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills, adept at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Availability to work standard office hours, with flexibility for peak workload periods.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • CPA certification or progress towards CPA certification is advantageous.
  • Experience in Public Accounting is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in an Accounting or Finance role is required.
  • Experience in not-for-profit and/or financial services is beneficial.
