Position Overview

The Aerospace Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the successful execution of contracts related to Commercial Aerospace Programs of moderate complexity. This role is pivotal in achieving organizational goals throughout the program lifecycle and serves as the primary liaison for customer interactions, ensuring that all program management processes, timelines, costs, resources, risks, and commitments are effectively managed.

This position does not entail formal direct reports; however, it requires the ability to lead through influence and manage a cross-functional team from various departments. The Aerospace Program Coordinator acts as the main point of contact for a significant commercial aerospace OEM client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that customer expectations are fulfilled while aligning with the interests of Engineered Staffing Solutions by developing the program charter, baseline plan, and other essential program management elements. Validates the accuracy of cost structures and pricing through resource evaluation and risk assessment.
  • Accountable for integrated program timelines, data synchronization, monitoring financial and quality metrics, and implementing corrective measures across all program responsibilities. Addresses critical challenges in complex programs and guides the team in formulating action plans to enhance performance.
  • Leads the formulation of program strategies for both established and new product development initiatives. Engages in program planning activities and directs all phases of programs throughout their lifecycle.
  • Organizes and steers programs by identifying necessary expertise; provides constructive feedback on contributions and performance to team members and/or their direct supervisors in a matrix environment. Responsible for planning, budgeting, staffing, training, and the development of team members.
  • Oversees and approves task planning on programs, including resource allocation and effort estimations related to program outcomes. Establishes and communicates overall priorities and evolving program requirements to relevant functional areas.
  • Ensures robust customer relationships by addressing all inquiries and serving as the primary contact for assigned program activities, status updates, and issue resolution. Responsible for negotiating contract modifications related to scope management.
  • Acts as a key presenter and facilitator during major program reviews, ensuring that meeting actions are documented and communicated effectively.
  • Consults with management on specific programs or overarching program management strategies. Sets goals and objectives necessary for program completion. Provides mentorship in program management and leadership to diverse project teams.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, and engaging in professional associations. Shares specialized knowledge with colleagues and serves as a resource on program management principles and practices.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, Business, or a related discipline is required. PMP certification is necessary, typically within six months of assignment; an advanced degree (MS/MBA) and additional certifications (e.g., PgMP, PMI-RMP) are preferred.
  • Proven ability to perform essential job functions typically acquired through eight or more years of relevant experience, including two or more years leading multiple projects of varying complexity and scope, along with direct leadership of teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in program management processes, methodologies, and frameworks.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate business acumen and lead cross-functional matrix teams across a suite of related projects.
  • Thorough understanding of industry practices and market dynamics associated with fielded products or services.
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace commercial contracting and procurement standards, as well as financial and labor cost systems and production processes.
  • Proficient in business applications software and capable of utilizing specialized project management and financial tools.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex policies, contractual language, and financial documentation.
  • Skilled in responding to and negotiating with customers, regulatory bodies, or business community members.
  • Ability to develop effective written communications and present information to various management levels, customers, and/or suppliers.
