About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our team in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and revising RMF technical documents, including procedures, articles, user manuals, and reference materials. They will facilitate communication between stakeholders by breaking down complex terminologies and ensuring that information is presented in a clear and concise manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with best practices for material organization, editorial standards, and publication methods.
  • Write and edit RMF procedure documentation.
  • Create and revise technical documents, including reference manuals.
  • Develop procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and project managers to understand specific products or processes.
  • Conduct research on RMF practices to fully comprehend processes.
  • Evaluate audience needs for technical and procedural documentation.
  • Adjust tone and technical terms to meet those needs and ensure understanding.
  • Plan writing processes and tasks, setting timelines and deadlines.
  • Create diagrams, charts, and visual aids to assist readers in understanding products or processes.
  • Gather feedback from customers and technical teams to improve technical documents.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in English, journalism, or literature.
  • Five years of experience in IT technical writing and editing, or an equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and grammatical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Ability to edit and proofread work of colleagues.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year
