Position Overview: Chemical Process Specialist

We are currently seeking a Chemical Process Specialist for our Ecoservices division.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is competitive and based on market data, reflecting the individual's qualifications, skills, and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and enhance plant process performance, focusing on safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for production processes and assigned projects.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction strategies within plant operations.
  • Develop and document project scopes and justifications for capital initiatives.
  • Assist in prioritizing maintenance tasks and executing small capital projects.
  • Oversee contractor activities for assigned projects.
  • Engage in Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability (HSES) initiatives to address safety and environmental concerns.
  • Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Perform environmental release calculations and analyze process opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the planning and execution of Turnaround activities.
  • Provide technical guidance for startup, shutdown, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in the design and optimization of integrated processes and basic unit operations.
  • Manage operational documentation, including standard operating procedures and process flow diagrams.
  • Contribute to management initiatives and drive organizational change.
  • Utilize compliance tools to analyze processes and foster improvements.
  • Enhance process control systems and maintain site control systems.
  • Participate in daily production meetings.
HSES Responsibilities:
  • Participate in Process Hazards Analysis and ensure completion of related action items.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Conduct audits related to equipment ownership and workplace safety.
  • Promote adherence to Life Saving Behaviors and utilize Stop Work Authority when necessary.
  • Engage in HSES teams and meetings to address safety and environmental issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable safety and environmental requirements.
  • Actively participate in safety training and meetings.
  • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report safety or environmental incidents promptly and participate in investigations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a chemical plant, refinery, or engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and practices (OSHA, API, ASME, NFPA).
  • Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations.
  • Ability to interpret equipment and process diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, including process controls.
  • Proficient in multitasking and managing various priorities.
  • Willingness to work in a continuous operation chemical manufacturing environment and be on call as needed.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Experience with Aspen Tech Process Simulation Software is a plus.
