Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our team at St. Mark Catholic Preschool. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and engaging environment for children aged 18 months to 5 years.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome each child upon arrival, fostering a sense of belonging and security.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that promotes social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development, tailored to each child's unique needs and abilities.
  • Recognize and respond to children's interests and needs, encouraging exploration and learning.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of each child at all times, adhering to state licensing guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing the curriculum, gathering supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
  • Participate in rotating responsibilities, such as setting up or putting away playground equipment, and contribute to the overall smooth operation of the preschool.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment, toys, and furniture to ensure proper functioning and compliance with state standards.
  • Assist with bathroom needs, including diapering, toilet training, and caring for ill or injured children, in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Follow program policies, procedures, and state licensing minimum standard guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom, adhering to state licensing guidelines and promoting positive child interactions.
  • Aid in classroom management, supporting the teacher in creating a positive and productive learning environment.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Attend workshops for Continuing Education as required by state licensing rules to stay up-to-date on best practices and regulations.
  • Clean and sanitize toys and surfaces according to established procedures to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Able to lift 30-40 pounds, as required for younger age groups, and conduct activities involving substantial standing, walking, and moderate sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, twisting, and reaching on a frequent basis.

  • Effectively communicate with young children and adults through oral, written, and electronic means.
  • Provide a caring environment that fosters independence, creativity, and self-expression in each child.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, practice punctuality, and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
  • Must agree to a background check and maintain confidentiality in accordance with state regulations.
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm for promoting St. Mark Catholic Preschool are essential qualities for this role.
Organizational Relationships
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with the St. Mark Catholic Preschool Director, staff, and St. Mark Early Childhood Center staff.
  • Communicate with parents and children enrolled in the program, maintaining open and transparent relationships.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with the Classroom Teacher, supporting a collaborative and productive learning environment.
