HIV/STD Intervention Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated Disease Intervention Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. In this role, you will operate under the supervision of the HIV/STD Program Supervisor, contributing significantly to the management, control, and prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
Your responsibilities will include building effective partnerships with both public and private health organizations to create targeted strategies that meet community needs for HIV/STD counseling, testing, and partner notification. You will also be responsible for conducting training sessions for healthcare providers on the incidence and prevention of HIV/STD, as well as collaborating with program staff to promote the initiative within the community and among professional groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disease Intervention Tasks: Carrying out independent detection, intervention, reporting, surveillance, notification, and referral processes for individuals affected by HIV/STD and their contacts.
- Case Management Duties: Ensuring the completion of all necessary tasks to maintain accurate and thorough HIV/STD case documentation.
- Community Outreach: Acting as a technical consultant by disseminating information regarding CDC/DSHS standards for testing, diagnosis, and treatment of STDs and HIV.
- Additional Responsibilities: Supporting communicable disease initiatives and engaging in disaster response and recovery efforts as required.
- Knowledge or Ability to Acquire Knowledge of: Public health methodologies, Disease Investigation Specialist (DIS) protocols, fundamentals of sexually transmitted infections, interviewing techniques, and relevant software applications.
- Ability to: Uphold confidentiality, demonstrate organizational skills, manage time effectively, engage with diverse populations, travel as needed, and adapt to various environmental conditions.
