Job Summary

This is a temporary Environmental Educator position at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, Georgia. The primary responsibility is to lead K-12 grade students through multidisciplinary classes in an outdoor setting, focusing on life and earth science, ecology, team building, outdoor skills, and living history. Additional responsibilities include animal care, maintenance of teaching areas and resources, facilities, grounds, and support of general operations of the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead K-12 grade students through outdoor classes in life and earth science, ecology, team building, outdoor skills, and living history
  • Animal care and maintenance for residential education reptiles, amphibians, aquatic tanks, raptors, chickens, small mammals, and more
  • Maintenance of teaching areas and resources, facilities, grounds, and support of general operations of the facility
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Education, Environmental Education, Forestry, Natural Resources, Outdoor Education, Science, or related field
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Teaching qualities including commitment, genuine interest in youth development, strong passion for education, enthusiasm for life-long learning, and ability to connect students with meaningful experiences in science and the natural world
  • Work qualities including dynamic personality, well-developed communication skills, positive attitude, creativity, leadership ability, integrity, willingness to connect and build relationships, and desire to grow and be challenged
