The Braille Institute Los Angeles Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Library Assistant Volunteer to support our team in providing exceptional services to our patrons. As a Library Assistant Volunteer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of our library, ensuring that our patrons receive the best possible experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clerical Support: Assist with various clerical duties, including contacting patrons, performing basic check-ins, and checking on lapsed or inactive library user accounts for deletion.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, store, and ensure the proper functioning of devices, including Victor Readers and digital players.
- Device Check-in: Check in devices such as Victor Readers and digital players.
- BARD Support: Investigate the use of BARD, including difficulties, successes, and the need for assistance in using the software.
- Outreach Support: Participate in outreach email campaigns, assisting with drafting emails, letters, and marketing teasers aimed at various constituents, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Patron Support: Greet and assist students/library patrons as needed.
- Ad Hoc Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned, which may change.
- Team Support: Assist the Library Outreach Manager as needed.
Requirements:
- Customer Service Experience: Previous experience in customer-facing roles is essential.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and internet searching, are necessary. A willingness to learn library database software is also required.
- Bilingualism: Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are optional but desirable.
