Job Title: Advanced Practice Nurse-Certified Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the VA North Texas Health Care team as an Advanced Practice Nurse-Certified Nurse Practitioner. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial histories and physical examinations on patients
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and non-invasive diagnostic tests
  • Conduct evaluations and progress notes on patients presenting to the pain clinic
  • Accumulate, correlate, and present data on patients to the physician responsible
  • Perform venipuncture and arterial puncture
  • Perform visual screening tests
  • Perform standard 12-lead resting electrocardiogram
  • Formulate and recommend diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic regimens for the physician's consideration
  • Implement diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic regimens after approval by the physician
  • Refer patients to other medical subspecialties when indicated
  • Perform comprehensive examinations for pre-op screenings
  • Prescribe medication in accordance with VACO and Anesthesiology and Pain Management policy

Requirements:

  • English language proficiency
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Basic certification in an area of clinical specialty from a nationally recognized certifying body

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years of surgical/OR nursing experience
  • 3+ years of experience scheduling surgical cases and case coordination
  • 3+ years of experience as a NP taking patient history, performing physical exams, and assessing/formulating treatment plans
