Overview

The Medical Lab Scientist role at Intermountain Health is a key position in our team. This expert will provide high-level expertise in their area of focus, ensuring the best clinical practices for patient populations while maintaining cost controls.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Conduct thorough data analysis and interpretation to ensure optimal hospital clinical practices.
  • Study Design and Data Interpretation: Design and interpret research studies within the department to drive clinical improvement.
  • Consulting Services: Act as a consultant to discipline-specific personnel, Intermountain physicians, state health departments, and other committees.
  • Research Initiatives: Initiate approved independent research projects.

Skillset:

  • Perform various technical and complex tests following established procedures.
  • Interpret, correlate, and report test results.
  • Verify computer-generated reports and investigate errors.
  • Maintain quality control and document all deviations from established procedures.
  • Assist in CAP accreditation and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree (military training and experience may substitute)
  • Current ASCP or ASCP-I certification and applicable licensure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in a similar role/setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Effective communication and interaction with others
  • Ability to operate computers and office equipment
  • Visual acuity to read computer monitors and documents
  • Prolonged sitting or standing to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment
