Sterile Processing Tech 2 Job Description

At Inova Health System, we are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Tech 2 to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest level of sterility and quality in the processing of medical instruments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Decontaminate instruments in a safe and efficient manner, utilizing manual and mechanical processing mechanisms.
  • Unload case carts, checking all items for red tags and properly sorting instrumentation.
  • Prepare instrumentation for decontamination, including flushing lumens and exposing all surfaces.
  • Operate washer/decontaminators, cart washers, sonic washers, and other equipment in the decontamination area.
  • Utilize instrument tracking computer software to document all functions in the decontamination area.
  • Assemble instrumentation accurately and efficiently, prioritizing complex trays and ensuring sterility of all processed items.
  • Maintain instruments inventory and ensure timely distribution of instruments to all customers.
  • Assume a leadership role within the department, collaborating with customers to problem-solve issues and teaching, mentoring, and precepting new employees.
Requirements:
  • Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) is required.
  • One year of Sterile Processing experience is required.
  • High School or GED is required.
