As a Surgery Scheduling Coordinator, you will be responsible for performing various business office functions, including scheduling surgeries, handling calls from physician offices, and ensuring authorization is obtained prior to surgery. You will also answer phone calls, take messages, and transfer calls to other departments when necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Schedule surgeries in the computer, including pertinent information, and handle calls from physician offices.
  • Answer phone calls in a pleasant manner and deal with physician offices and patients' needs expeditiously.
  • Takes messages and transfers calls to other departments when necessary.
  • Pre-register patients and ensure authorization is obtained from the physician's office prior to surgery.
  • Maintain log for cancelled appointments and perform various clerical duties.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in healthcare and minimum of one-year experience in surgery scheduling procedures preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and function within a team.
  • Basic knowledge of surgery scheduling, receptionist, and registration responsibilities.
