About the Role:

This position is hosted by Jobot. We are seeking a qualified Lead Property Accountant to join a rapidly expanding Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT). As the organization continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced professional to support our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee lease accounting processes, including handling lease modifications and terminations while ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries to facilitate timely month-end closing.
  • Maintain effective communication with property and asset managers to ensure clarity on financial performance and upcoming changes.
  • Review monthly property trial balances and ensure accurate mapping of general ledger accounts.
  • Assess fixed asset acquisitions for proper capitalization and necessary approvals.
  • Engage in the budgeting and forecasting processes, analyzing budgetary data and explaining variances.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP in maintaining financial records.
  • Facilitate accurate and timely financial closes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Enhance productivity through the development of automated solutions and streamlined processes.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2 years in commercial real estate.
  • Experience in a public company setting is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a proactive approach.
  • Extensive experience in account reconciliation.
  • Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while working collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Yardi and advanced skills in MS Excel.
