Property Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Property Accountant to join our team at American Campus Communities. As a key member of our Financial Operations department, you will be responsible for providing accounting expertise to operational staff and management, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide accounting support to operational staff, including preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Assist in the preparation and review of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Collaborate with management to identify and implement process improvements, ensuring efficient and effective financial operations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with operational staff, directors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices in accounting and financial reporting.
- 3-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or a related field.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with experience in MRI a plus.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
