Design Engineer for Humanoid Robots

Tesla is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Robotics Team and play a key role in building our ambitious vision for humanoid bi-pedal robots.

Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on achieving high precision through high-volume production methods.
  • Determine component-level mechanical requirements from functional product specifications.
  • Apply analytical methods, including calculations and simulations, to design and optimize structures and mechanical components.
  • Perform tolerance analysis to determine system impacts of assembly fits and backlash.
  • Work with suppliers and tool designers to adapt part designs for manufacturability.
  • Drive every phase of product launch, including part design, tool design/moldflow, and process certification.
  • Conduct should-cost analysis to determine the fair price of goods.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience shipping consumer-grade products at high volumes.
  • Deep knowledge of material science and high-volume manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in designing parts and assemblies using 3D modeling software.
  • Proficiency in drafting engineering drawings and conducting tolerance stack-up analysis.

Expected Compensation: $88,000 - $228,000/annual salary, depending on level, plus cash and stock awards, and benefits.
