Job Summary

The Executive Director of Operations is responsible for developing and executing strategies to improve all aspects of the site's profitability, including business development, safety, quality, service, and cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage a team of 30-35 direct and indirect reports
  • Hold complete P&L responsibility for the recycling plant
  • Drive safety performance across the plant
  • Provide leadership to effectively recruit, train, develop, evaluate, motivate, delegate, and monitor staff activities
  • Review operations activities to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Develop a balanced approach to maximize operational best practices and cost efficiencies while maintaining quality and raw material utilization standards
  • Ensure consistent execution of SOPs throughout the plant
  • Own and drive cost control initiatives and process control within the plant
  • Manage a comprehensive sales funnel to deliver new business wins and lane expansions
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to drive growth and profitability
  • Account manage existing customers to improve profitability through active price management and lane expansion strategies
Requirements
  • Prior experience in managing site-level P&L
  • Familiarity with private fleet management/transportation
  • Strong customer focus orientation
  • Expert people management capability, including hourly workers
  • Experience managing safety performance and programs
  • Understanding of supply chain practices and metrics
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations management, or logistics (strongly preferred)
  • 3-5 years of experience in plant management (preferred)
  • Experience managing, developing, and training a team
Work Environment
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions, including elements, heat, cold, and air particulate
  • Repetitively lift up to 50-75 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts
  • Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, walk, and use hands to handle, feel, and reach
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required, including eye protection, ear protection, and safety shoes
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, and color vision
  • Must have a good sense of balance and good eye-hand-foot coordination
