Job Title: Assistant Manager of Shipping and Receiving

Medi-Rents and Sales is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Manager of Shipping and Receiving to join our team. As a key member of our warehouse operations, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the shipping and receiving staff, ensuring that all shipments are processed efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the shipping and receiving staff
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager with receiving, storing, inventory, shipping materials, supplies, tools, and equipment in the warehouse
  • Ensure all items on the delivery ticket are picked and packed correctly
  • Monitor shipping methods via truck or FedEx
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials
  • Ensure that shipments are packed into boxes correctly
  • Bind containers with tape or strapping machine when necessary
  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage
  • Assist with unboxing and examination of shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
  • Assist management with maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Operate lift truck or use a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
  • Participate in Improvement of Operational Performance (IOP) activities
  • Participate in traditional and e-learning (VGM U) programs
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Work effectively with other company employees, managers, and departments
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three months industry-related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient ability and practical knowledge of computers, software, and products applicable to the industry
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of departmental program structure (Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements) and department policies and procedures
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed, and have the ability to demonstrate effective time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision
  • Math ability to apply mathematical concepts such as calculating figures and amounts to practical situations
  • Supervisory requirements, including interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Reasoning ability to understand, interpret, and apply an extensive array of complex mathematical instruction and information through analytical collection of factual data to produce logical solutions and/or conclusions where only limited standardization exists
  • Language and communication ability to foster professional working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills organization-wide
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, which may include but is not limited to: computers, calculators, and other office supplies
  • Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone; manual dexterity to perform job functions and stamina to frequently sit for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally required to walk and lift and/or move up to 200 pounds
Technology Skills:
  • Proficient ability and practical knowledge of personal computer use, word processing software, spreadsheet software, accounting software, inventory software, and database software
  • Ability to quickly and proficiently learn to use company-specific software programs and any other handheld or technology tools as required for completing job tasks
