We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team at Carilion Health System. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with observing patients and reporting any unusual circumstances to licensed nurses.
- Organize and prioritize nursing care in accordance with unit standards.
- Complete admission and discharge processes, including documentation in patient charts and electronic medical records.
- Provide patient treatments as delegated, such as EKGs, blood glucose testing, and enemas.
- Act as a patient advocate, protector of patient rights, and provider of psychological, social, and cultural support.
- Lead daily goals and wrap-up groups, reporting any issues or concerns to licensed nurses.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Experience in psychiatry or nursing assistant preferred.
- Ability to handle and restrain patients who may be disruptive or physically violent.
- Willingness to learn medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- De-escalation training must be completed within four months of hire and maintained going forward.
- AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
- Valid Virginia State Driver's license required for patient transportation.
