Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and analyzes patients to set functional, quantifiable objectives aimed at enhancing their functional capabilities. Implements therapeutic interventions based on a documented care plan to achieve designated outcomes. Plans for patient discharge and conveys findings and progress in accordance with professional licensure, scope of practice, and departmental policies. Generates additional reports as necessary. May oversee clinical students and support personnel, including certified assistants and volunteers. Upholds the ASHA Code of Ethics. Fosters a supportive environment that encourages health and recovery. Performs additional responsibilities as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Conducts evaluations and assessments of patients utilizing both subjective and objective data.
- Communicates evaluation results to patients and their caregivers.
- Delivers treatment in alignment with established goals outlined in the care plan.
- Assesses the effectiveness of the care plan and makes necessary adjustments.
- Reassesses the patient's functional condition.
- Provides discharge planning information, which includes education for patients and families, follow-up care, and referrals to community resources.
- Contributes to the professional development of staff and students.
- Engages in initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery.
- Completes assigned objectives.
