Job Description

As a Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students in accordance with state and federal regulations.

  • Conduct virtual lessons and provide direct instruction in core subjects and specialized skills, such as braille literacy, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of visually impaired students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and updates to parents and school administrators.
  • Utilize a variety of digital tools and resources to create engaging and accessible learning experiences.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of visual impairment education.
  • Provide support and training to parents and caregivers to enhance their ability to support their child's education at home.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field.
  • Valid Missouri teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment.
  • Experience working with visually impaired students, preferably in a virtual or remote setting.
  • Proficiency in braille and other assistive technologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
  • Technological proficiency, including familiarity with virtual learning platforms and adaptive technologies.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
