Position Summary:

As Construction Safety Specialists at CMI, our primary focus is on the application of best practices in safety management, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a culture of safety improvement across designated construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide, instruct, and train personnel on safety measures
  • Promote a proactive safety culture within the workforce
  • Participate in safety meetings as necessary, with varying frequencies
  • Perform on-site evaluations and suggest safety enhancements
  • Lead pre-task planning, audits, job safety analyses (JSAs), and permit procedures
  • Conduct site-specific orientations, training sessions, and toolbox discussions
  • Prepare reports as required by the project site

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in safety oversight
  • Experience managing remediation job sites is essential
  • Expertise in excavation safety oversight is required
  • Thorough knowledge of Construction Safety Standards (1926)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams at all levels
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software

Education and Certifications:

  • OSHA 30 Construction certification obtained within the last 5 years
  • OSHA 40 HazWoper certification is mandatory
  • First Aid CPR AED certification is required

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often on uneven surfaces
  • Capability to climb ladders
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, and bend as necessary
  • Capacity to lift items weighing up to 30lbs

Additional Requirements:

  • Background checks and potential drug screenings are mandatory for this role
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required based on project needs
  • Residence within a reasonable commuting distance is preferred
