Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Material Inspector to join our team at Ventura Foods. As a Material Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our spice room operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing batch spices according to production schedules and established formulas
Weigh and measure spices and ingredients with scales and other measuring devices, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the spice room, including Hazardous Material Identification System (HMIS) protocols
Accurately fill in batch sheets with material supplier lot numbers, using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) rotation method
Learn and maintain knowledge of cooler and warehouse rack locations for spice room ingredients, gathering needed amounts to meet production schedules
Assist processors as needed, scanning in batches (components) when weighed to support the coordinator
Perform general cleanup, including using chemical training to operate the foamer in the room
Adhere to all food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria, including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls

Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
Ability to follow directions, read, write, and communicate effectively
Accurate counting and simple mathematics skills
Familiarity with scales and other measuring devices
Flexibility to work hours assigned by supervisor
Self-starting, self-directing, and good judgment and decision-making skills

Work Environment:

This role requires regular intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity are necessary to perform the required tasks. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance may be required. Additional demands may be required. In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures, including extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
