Position Overview
The Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join the Consultation/Liaison Unit. This unit is part of a comprehensive Behavioral Health Center that provides a wide array of mental health services. Our offerings include programs for First Episode Psychosis, medical care, opioid treatment, and specialized services for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. We also focus on the needs of homeless patients through our Extended Care Unit, along with ketamine-assisted therapy and both inpatient and outpatient services for adults and children.
Our dedicated team comprises adult and child psychiatrists, psychologists, internists, nurses, social workers, creative arts therapists, peer counselors, and addiction specialists, all committed to delivering compassionate care in a secure environment. We prioritize the dignity of each patient and collaborate with them on their recovery journey. Additionally, we provide educational resources for patients and their families to enhance their understanding of mental health and addiction issues.
Service Offerings
- Psychopharmacology and various psychotherapeutic approaches (individual, group, and family therapy).
- Specialized programs including outpatient withdrawal management and medication maintenance (Methadone and Buprenorphine).
- Overdose prevention initiatives and support for personal development goals such as employment and education.
Each patient receives a personalized assessment and treatment plan tailored to their unique needs, ensuring a holistic approach to recovery and health management.
The hospital maintains a robust academic partnership with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, which supports high standards in healthcare delivery and offers staff opportunities for teaching and research, as well as close collaboration with medical students, residents, and fellows.

Key Responsibilities
- Comply with policies, procedures, protocols, and ethical standards of Kings County Hospital.
- Respond to psychiatric consultation requests from physicians caring for both children and adults in emergency and inpatient settings.
- Provide recommendations for necessary psychiatric care and advice on patient disposition.
- Supervise residents, fellows, and medical students on the Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison service.
- Collaborate with Behavioral Health leadership to enhance inter-departmental cooperation.
- Participate in psychiatry CL team meetings and adhere to established protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Service.
Qualifications
- Board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry.
- M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school.
- Completed residency training in an accredited Psychiatry program.
- Valid medical license to practice in the State of New York.
