Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at the Ames Community School District. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including fire alarm and access control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues promptly to minimize disruptions to school operations.
  • Work closely with other maintenance staff, administrators, and external contractors to ensure a safe and functional electrical environment.
  • Support projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of resources.
  • Respond promptly to electrical and other system emergencies, such as power outages and equipment failures.
Requirements
  • Journeyman Electrician license in the State of Iowa.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems and conducting repairs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to use various computer programs to manage work orders and other tasks.
