Job Title: Industrial Equipment Specialist

Job Summary

The Industrial Equipment Specialist is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of industrial machinery and equipment. This involves installing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems, as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues that prevent machines from reaching their full potential.

Key Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and prioritize technical issues that impact machine performance.
  • Develop and implement robust troubleshooting and preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Manage the preventive maintenance program, including scheduling, writing PMs, and entering required data into CMMS software.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on cell equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operations.
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for new equipment, including robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
  • Install plumbing for hydraulics and pneumatics, and connect power supply wires to machines and equipment.
  • Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss the root cause with other maintenance technicians.
  • Replace faulty components, including relays, switches, motors, pneumatics, and position-sensing devices.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints to ensure accurate installation and repair.
  • Work closely with systems providers and engineers to diagnose and repair machine breakdowns quickly.
  • Manipulate teach pendants and programmable controllers to adjust automated machinery.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Work with maintenance to order spare parts and maintain the spare parts crib stock.
  • Assist systems technicians and fill in as needed.
  • Operate lift trucks and scissors lifts as required.
  • Track and fill out spreadsheets for production OEE and shift reports.
  • Fabricate parts as needed to keep the cell running.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Requirements


  • High school diploma, one to three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Journeyman or 3-5 years of experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC).
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems.
