Job Overview

Hastings Fiber Glass Products, Inc. is seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrical Engineer to join our team in Hastings, Michigan. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance in the design, manufacture, and testing of hot line products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with product design cycle, including concept development, prototyping, layout, beta testing, and documentation.
  • Learn and understand the operation and technical details of Hastings Fiber Glass products.
  • Research and cross-reference electrical components to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Design and conduct tests of completed equipment and components under operational conditions to investigate product performance and quality control.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to investigate and analyze new materials and engineering practices.
  • Promptly respond to customers' technical questions regarding electrical power and Hastings Fiber Glass products.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel to visit customers and assist with testing.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and comply with applicable ISO standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Substantive professional experience with high voltage power/utility industry applications, particularly transmission lines.
  • Superior technical skills and understanding of electrical power principles, including grounding power lines.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software and experience with Mastercam software are beneficial.
  • Experience with engineering change notices (ECNs) and strong mechanical aptitude are required.
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to collaborate with others in team-based environments are essential.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage workflow is crucial.
