Overview:

We are in search of a skilled professional who will leverage their expertise in engineering principles, team collaboration, and statistical process control to assess and enhance critical processes essential to the production of both printed and unprinted laminated and coated packaging materials for the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. This individual will serve as a proactive leader and effective communicator, aiming to refine all facets of the manufacturing facility, with a focus on minimizing production costs, boosting efficiencies, and decreasing process variability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with machine operators to identify requirements and devise solutions. Work in conjunction with maintenance teams on equipment modifications and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure operational reliability.
  • Deliver essential operational reports to the site leadership team.
  • Act as the plant representative for trials.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing methodologies.
Process Management:
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of all manufacturing processes and machinery. Evaluate equipment performance and create process specifications utilizing statistical analysis.
  • Assess the effects of potential material alterations.
  • Support process monitoring and vision systems.
  • Review and adjust the process workflow as necessary.
  • Formulate strategies for process enhancement and evaluate their implications.
Project Oversight:
  • Analyze data and oversee all aspects of efficiency, new or modified equipment, and customer satisfaction initiatives.
    • Identify projects and prepare proposals or reports.
    • Establish timelines, funding, procedures, staffing needs, training, and allocation of resources for various project phases.
Safety Commitment:
  • Continuously evaluate activities to prevent unsafe outcomes.
  • Engage in the plant-wide safety team.
  • Assist in safety and housekeeping audits and surveys to ensure adherence to safety regulations and guidelines.
Quality Assurance:
  • Enhance product reliability through consistent performance.
  • Participate in the customer complaint system to prevent future issues.
  • Actively engage in and/or lead root cause analysis efforts.
  • Identify and rectify any quality concerns that may arise within the department or facility.
  • Support customer quality audits as required.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
  • Identify and tackle opportunities to reduce costs, enhance product/process quality, and improve overall operations.
  • Lead and participate in teams aimed at resolving issues and streamlining operations.
  • Conduct training and exercises designed to foster continuous improvement potential.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven ability to lead teams towards process improvements that yield significant results.
  • Experience in implementing statistical process control and/or lean manufacturing principles in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • 7+ years of experience in a process engineering role within a manufacturing context.
  • Proficient in writing engineering/manufacturing procedures and work instructions.
  • Ability to learn and adhere to FDA/GMP regulations and ISO/TS Audits.
  • Background in Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, Zero Defect, Kaizen, Kanban, and Single Minute Exchange Die (SMED).
Language Proficiency:
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
