Key Responsibilities:
  • Focus on assembly processes, leveraging experience and comprehensive process analysis to enhance facility layouts and product/process workflows for New Product Development (NPD) initiatives as part of our Manufacturing Engineering team.
We are looking for a proactive and analytical individual with a hands-on approach to provide technical guidance to the manufacturing engineering team within our assembly division. This role will spearhead efforts to effectively design, plan, and implement assembly processes throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate will consistently utilize engineering methodologies for process evaluation, equipment requirement generation, assembly line design, and documentation for NPD and functional projects.

Primary Duties:
  • Develop and implement efficient workstation and work cell configurations to optimize manpower and floor space in support of NPD projects.
  • Conduct feasibility analyses for manufacturing layouts and capacity.
  • Gather, analyze, and optimize data from NPD/prototype builds to enhance production assembly processes.
  • Review process plans and collaborate with the process engineering team to assess process flows, facility layouts, line balancing, work instructions, time standards, and process controls.
  • Create assembly process management tools to facilitate manpower calculations, line balancing, time studies, and the creation/maintenance of work instructions.
  • Support training initiatives for industrial engineers across the organization.
  • Participate in NPD project team design reviews, DFM/DFA reviews, PFMEAs, and control plan reviews, providing feedback and recommended solutions.
  • Contribute to project budgets for new product launches.
  • Create and maintain product and process-specific ERP data.
  • Assist in the product change process throughout the NPD and product launch phases.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in a Manufacturing Engineering role with progressive responsibilities; 8+ years preferred.
Skills:
  • Proficient in task-based risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with common assembly techniques including fastening, tape application, riveting, material handling, and ergonomics.
  • Experience in motion-based time standard generation.
  • Ability to create and maintain facility layouts using CAD software.
  • Thorough understanding of ERP, MES, and PLM systems.
  • Experience in the installation and startup of sub-assembly cells and complete assembly lines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interface with all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in coordinating and evaluating task-based risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of discrete event simulation.
  • Experience in line balancing for assembly lines with high variation.
  • Capability to evaluate and recommend assembly line capacity.
  • Background in data-driven continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in appliance manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control.
