Position Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs is in search of an intermittent Hospitalist to deliver essential medical coverage for inpatient services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive internal medicine care to hospitalized patients, adhering to established clinical practices and standards.
  • Supervise and educate internal medicine residents and medical students during their clinical rotations.
  • Engage in educational initiatives associated with the internal medicine residency program.
  • Collaborate effectively with physician extenders and nursing staff throughout the medical facility.
  • Act as a resource for Primary Care providers, facilitating seamless transitions for patients from inpatient to outpatient care.
  • Contribute expertise in multidisciplinary discussions regarding patient care.
  • Participate in research, quality improvement, and educational activities aligned with professional interests.
  • Provide internal medicine consultation services to various medical teams, ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Perform clinical procedures relevant to your specialty within the general medicine teams and stepdown units.
  • Participate in an evening coverage rotation in case of emergency absences of attending physicians.
  • Engage actively in departmental meetings and quality assurance activities.

Compensation and Benefits

Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited internal medicine program.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

Physical and Educational Qualifications

Applicants should be physically and mentally capable of performing the necessary duties associated with patient care, including examinations and treatment planning. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution is required.
