Job Summary

The Boating Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Boating program, including Physical Education programming, Boating Lessons, Boating Club Membership, and assisting with the Sailing Sport Club. The successful candidate will ensure the safe usage of vessels and uphold all current health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of the Boating program, including Physical Education programming, Boating Lessons, and Boating Club Membership.
  • Assist with the Sailing Sport Club and ensure the safe usage of vessels.
  • Uphold all current health and safety standards.
  • Teach sailing classes to youths and adults as part of the Boating Program's community sailing program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs, maintenance, and growth of the overall Boating program.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
  • Demonstrated advanced leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to incorporate key program information into web-based and other marketing materials.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer applications relevant to job duties.
  • General knowledge of campus or higher education policies and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of program activity and best practices.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Skills in program management.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization.
  • Experience teaching beginning through advanced sailing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • US Coast Guard Captain's license.
Working Conditions

The selected candidate will be required to work all scheduled hours on-site and may be required to travel to multiple work locations on and off campus. The ability to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends as directed, is also required.
