About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team at Ascension Providence in Southfield, MI. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will play a critical role in implementing and supervising physical exercise programs for patients, providing patient testing and assessment, and planning and teaching exercise therapy.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and supervise physical exercise programs for patients.
  • Provide patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
  • Plan and teach exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status, and current medication regimen.
  • Monitor patient's response and revise plan accordingly.
  • Recognize contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Respond appropriately to all situations, including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provide exercise information for patients, peers, and the community, which may include public speaking and education classes.
  • Ensure department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning correctly.
  • Prepare, develop, and maintain various files, records, reports; schedule patient appointments as required.
  • Provide oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.
Requirements
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Athletic Trainer credentialed from the Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers preferred.
  • Certification specializing in Personal Training preferred.
  • Certification specializing in Sports Medicine preferred.
  • Certification specializing in Strength & Conditioning preferred.
  • Exercise Physiologist credentialed from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
