{"Job Title": "Surgical Technologist", "Job Summary": "We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our Labor and Delivery team at UNC Health Care. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

* Prepare for C-section cases by checking and ensuring sterility and availability of instruments, supplies, and equipment.
* Provide skilled, safe care within the scope of practice, including following established policy and procedures for the disposition of specimens and performing sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
* Monitor and control the environment for sterility and provide medications and solutions as prescribed.
* Apply knowledge of proper positioning of the surgical patient and respond appropriately to emergency and code situations.
* Work effectively in stressful situations and remain calm.
* Be flexible and available to work a variety of shifts to ensure coverage for the area.
* Complete continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements.
* Present and promote a professional demeanor at all times and exhibit high standards of customer service.

Requirements:

* High school diploma required. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology course required.
* Surgical Tech certification required.
* Prior experience as an OB Tech or Surgical Scrub Tech with 3+ years preferred.
* Working knowledge of obstetrical procedures, instrumentation, suture, and/or specialty supplies preferred.
* Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
* Basic PC proficiency with the ability to learn new software tools.
* Ability to stand and/or walk for duration of shift and meet the physical requirements of the job.

Work Environment:

* Labor and Delivery department at UNC Health Care
* Full-time position with 36 hours per week
* Day shift with flexibility to work varied shifts
