Job Summary:

UNC Health Care is seeking a skilled Surgical Scrub Technologist to join our team in the Operating Room at Wayne UNC Health Care. As a Surgical Scrub Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to ensure smooth procedure execution.
  • Monitor and control the environment for sterility, adhering to Operating Room policies and procedures.
  • Provide medications and solutions as prescribed, demonstrating knowledge of proper patient care.
  • Assist with the teaching of newly hired technologists, serving as a resource and role model to teammates.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency and code situations, remaining calm and effective in stressful situations.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program.
  • BCLS Certification required.
  • One year of experience as a surgical scrub technologist preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and suture.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic PC proficiency with the ability to learn new software tools.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for duration of shift and meet the physical requirements of the job.
