Job Title: Lighting Controls Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Lighting Controls Specialist to join our team at WSP. As a Lighting Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical support for project designers with the production of lighting projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal project discipline team members and external equipment vendors and manufacturers.
  • Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors, and building owners.
  • Assist with executing controls design of complex projects.
  • Perform construction administration tasks.
  • Perform basic professional lighting design work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, layout, and systems to determine conformance with applicable standards and codes.
  • Assist with basic technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state-of-the-art lighting design that is innovative and inspiring.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Interior Design, Theater Production Design, or closely related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Familiarity with process and concepts for sustainable lighting strategies, principles, and practices.
  • Strong creative skills with an ability to balance lighting aesthetics and client desires with practical concerns.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of energy codes and LEED.
  • Prior work with lighting design or related design firm.
  • Experience in designing control systems for high-performing, commercial, or industrial buildings.
